ALL ABOUT THESPYS
Your guide to understanding Thespys and the way they work.
Thespys (formally known as I.E.s) recognize the highest level of achievement in school theatre performance and technical theatre. Though all students may perform or present for Thespys, only registered Thespians are eligible for awards. This year, students receive one free Thespy spot with registration. Performance categories include monologues, duet scenes, group scenes, solo musical theater, duet musical theater, and/or group musical theater. Technical categories include stage management, light design, set design, costume design, costume construction, sound design, publicity/marketing, makeup, short film, short documentary, and/or short animated film. All Thespys are adjudicated by professionals in the field and each student participant receives individualized feedback.
Students who score a Superior Rating in their Thespys have the opportunity to perform and compete at the annual International Thespian Festival, where over 5,000 students attend from around the globe.
